Peanut Butter Banana Breakfast Smoothies
Ripe banana and peanut butter make a satisfying breakfast blend, with a smooth base and just enough ice for a thick, drinkable finish.

This quick smoothie relies on ripe bananas for most of its sweetness and plain yogurt for a creamy, tangy base. A standard blender handles the whole recipe in about five minutes, so the drink can go straight from the jar to the glass.
Blending the peanut butter into the liquid before the ice helps it disperse instead of sticking in dense pockets. The final texture is easy to adjust with a small splash of milk, while honey stays an optional last step.
Start with a fluid base
Milk and yogurt give the blender enough liquid to pull the peanut butter toward the blades. Adding the peanut butter against that liquid and blending briefly on low loosens it before the fruit and ice make the mixture heavier.
Catch clumps before they hide
Peanut butter can cling above the liquid line, especially when the jar is not very full. Stop the blender and scrape the walls back down if a sticky streak remains, then blend the base smooth before adding ice.

Add ice after the fruit
Once the banana and peanut butter form a smooth base, ice thickens the drink and cools it without leaving frozen pieces in the first blend. Blend only until the cubes disappear and the smoothie continues to move through the jar.
Let ripe fruit lead the sweetness
Taste before reaching for honey, since ripe bananas can make the smoothie sweet enough on their own. If it needs a lift, blend in a small measured amount and stop once the flavor rounds out; optional cinnamon adds warmth without adding more sweetness.

Peanut Butter Banana Breakfast Smoothies
Ingredients
- • 2 ripe bananas
- • 2 tbsp creamy peanut butter
- • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- • 3/4 cup cold milk, plus up to 3 tbsp for thinning
- • 1 cup ice cubes
- • 1 tsp honey, optional, only if more sweetness is needed
- • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon, optional
Method
Set up the blender
Measure the cold milk and plain yogurt into a standard blender jar, then break the ripe bananas into the jar so they blend evenly.
Look for: The banana pieces sit below the blender's maximum fill line.
Disperse the peanut butter
Add the peanut butter against the liquid and blend on low for about 10 seconds, then stop and scrape any paste from the jar wall back into the liquid.
Look for: The liquid has no thick peanut-butter streaks clinging to the sides.
Blend until smooth
Blend the banana, milk, yogurt, and peanut butter on medium until the mixture is uniformly creamy, stopping to scrape the jar if a peanut-butter pocket remains.
Look for: No banana pieces or peanut-butter clumps remain in the base.
Add ice for body
Add the ice cubes and blend until the smoothie is thick but still moves in a steady pour; pause briefly if the cubes ride above the blades.
Look for: The surface looks evenly frothy and the blender contents circulate.
Adjust the finish
With the blender stopped, check the texture and flavor; for a thinner pour add milk 1 tbsp at a time, and only if needed blend in the optional honey, up to 1 tsp total.
Look for: The smoothie pours easily without becoming watery or overly sweet.
Season and serve promptly
If desired, blend in the optional cinnamon for a few seconds, pour into two glasses, and serve at once while the ice keeps the drink cold and thick.
Look for: The smoothies are smooth and cold with no settled peanut-butter layer.
