Honey Mustard Sauce
25 min · 1 cup sauce
Ingredients
□
□ 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
□ 1 tbsp whole-grain mustard
□ 2 tbsp honey, divided
□ 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, divided
□ 1/4 tsp kosher salt, divided
□ 1/8 tsp finely ground black pepper
□ 1 tbsp cold water, as needed
Directions
1. Whisk mustards, 1 tbsp honey, 2 tsp vinegar, 1/8 tsp salt, and pepper. Whisk in mayo, or slowly drizzle in 3 tbsp olive oil for the vinaigrette version.
2. Taste; add remaining honey and vinegar in small increments to balance sweetness and sharpness, then add remaining salt as needed.
3. Whisk in up to 1 tbsp water to adjust thickness. Cover and chill 15 minutes to round the flavor.
4. Stir and serve as a dip, spread, or drizzle; refrigerate leftovers covered.
Cook’s note: Add the reserved honey and vinegar gradually; taste as you go to keep the sauce balanced.
